what recent scare???? please enter more detail
No I feed my dogs Canidae it is all natural with no by products. No corn or wheat or soy! I’m pretty secure in the food I feed my dogs.
No. But, I have started to read the labels. Anything with Wheat Gluten goes back on the shelf.
If your considering making your own food, you will need to supplement with a pet tab vitamin as home made diets do not supply all of the nutrients the dog will need for long term consumption. The general recipe is 3/4 starch and 1/4 protein. The most popular starch is rice, but potato is also used. The most popular protein is either boiled ground beef or chicken. Remember to use no oil, spices or other additives. I use Science Diet food as they make MOST of their own food and monitor their ingredients closely. Good Luck.
Yes, I have a German Shepherd and a Chihuahua/Shi Tzu mix (very different dogs!). I have been making them cooked ground chicken, or cooked ground beef, with some plain white rice with some of a mixture of peas & carrots. Although, I do not know how healthy this is, I have been asking around to various veterinarians and they say wet food is effected, but now some dry food is effected too, so I’m not too sure what to do. Other veterinary places I’ve called charge quite a bit just for a phone call (about recipes) :sigh:
I don’t have to worry about the dog food scare that started in March because I have been feeding my dogs a raw diet for the last six years.
I’m with dee. I began feeding raw a 6 months ago. I love it and so does my Ruby.
