Pet cats are one of the most common choice of animal. Many people expect to introduce their moggie from being just days old, and the feline will stay with them right up to its last days. Keepers are drawn to the company of animals, as they are such unassuming creatures, and supply their masters with regular attention.
From the moment it gets born, disciplining the pet is important, otherwise you face a prospect of undesirable smells and wet patches on the carpet, not to mention scratched sofas and the odd bite. You may soon be used to the godsend of scratch posts, litter trays, and certainly cleaning up the carpet with cleaning products.
There is some good advice out there about cats. Finding out about other’s guidance will be a great comfort.
Felines will however soon become better behaved, remembering to go to their toilet tray when they want to pee or poop. When this behaviour has been developed, the future should appear easy – only moving the pet away from furniture when it starts to scratch.
The commitment to your moggie doesn’t finish now – you could then discover that the responsibility of a pet cat is shown most if you need to be away for a couple of days. If you are fortunate a relative or colleague might be happy to make a trip to your home frequently to add to the meal bowl and perhaps empty out the poop. Extended trips will similarly need forward plans as cats tend not to travel with their keepers. A handy hint is to pet sit with another local moggie keeper, and as long as breaks don’t coincide, you’ll have someone to call on when you’re not about to feed your pet.
Lastly, you need to be clear about the irregular challenges surrounding animal health. Medical bills may be very large, so consider some pet insurance. It may be relatively cheap (especially against the medical bills) and could protect you in the case of a huge cost dropping through your door after an operation.
Most importantly though, the pleasure of a sleeping animal on your lap watching the television is well worth the effort, and there’s little similar to the warmth of that purring. You’ll find a friend for evermore, although they will drive you up the wall now and again!
