Everybody loves his pet. Though enough precautions have been taken there can arise situations in which it is necessary to know what best of dog emergency health care is. Pets may catch infection, may get poisoned or they may face an accidental injury. In these situations beside first aid, calling your vet doc is necessary. Let’s discuss in brief about dog emergency health care in this short article.

There are some minor cuts or superficial injuries. In such cases flush the cut with warm water, try to clean the fur around area of injury to avoid delayed healing of wound. Apply any typical antibiotic cream like Neosporin or Bacitracin. If you are treating burns then be careful to flush it with cold water, hold ice-water mixture in a plastic bag or soft towel on the site of injury and contact your vet immediately. If your dog starts coughing or choking try to look inside the mouth. If you see anything like a piece of bone remove it immediately or call your vet.

If airways of an animal is free of any object and it is still not able to breath, then it needs CPR. To give CPR lay the dog on ground, listen to chest to check heartbeat. If no heartbeat noticed, close the mouth of your dog place your mouth on its muzzle and blow air in its nose until chest expands. Call the pet care centre or hospital if necessary. Do not over blow the chest.

There are a few situations in which it is better to call veterinarian help immediately. In case of poisoning it is better to call your vet, if allowed by your vet then induce vomiting. To help treat your dog properly take the bottle or wrapper of the suspected poison with you to your vet. If your dog is suffering frequent diarrhea and its stool contains blood it is really an emergency. In this case take help from veteran hospital. This needs special medical attention and not only first aid. It is surprising but dogs show some fatal eye injuries which can lead to permanent blindness. Although rare dogs may catch frostbite. Do not treat such dogs with hot water immediately or do not try to increase their body temperature immediately.

Porcupine quills are a major threat to dogs. Quills being large enough can be removed by gloved hands. If quills are more in numbers take your dog to animal hospital. Cortisone cream should be applied on the areas of insect bites. As insect bite is allergic call your vet for further treatment. The most important thing to remember is avoiding the dog bite while treating your dog. After all dog emergency health care is a matter of handling your dog properly in situations of panic.
